Your driving data stays yours.
Version 5 — last updated: 23 September 2026
Articles 1 to 11 reproduce, word for word, the policy presented in the app at the time of consent (translated from the French original, which prevails); article 12 concerns this website.
In short. Your driving activity, card files and payroll calculations stay on your phone. They are sent nowhere and the publisher has no access to them.
No data is resold. Your driving activity, card files and position are never passed to third parties; only advertising involves a third party, Google, under the conditions described in article 6.
1. Data collected
The TachoPro app collects data from the tachograph via Bluetooth, as well as the data contained in your driver card when you read it. This data includes:
| Identity | Driver's name and card number (16 digits). |
|---|---|
| Vehicle | Registration number. |
| Activity | Driving, rest, work and availability times. |
| Location | GPS position, if you have enabled the option. |
2. Use and purpose
This information is used exclusively to:
- calculate your remaining service and rest times in real time;
- prevent infringements of European social legislation (EU driving-time rules);
- generate your daily and weekly activity reports.
None of this data is resold or passed to third parties.
3. Storage and security
Local storage
Your driving activity, card files and payroll calculations stay on your device, in encrypted form. They are sent nowhere, and the app's author has no access to them.
Position
While you use the map or navigation, your position is sent to calculate your route and feed the traffic information shared between drivers. The rest of the time, the app periodically sends an approximate position, rounded to about one kilometre — it is used to measure areas of use, not to follow you: it designates neither an address nor a loading place, and comes with no vehicle name.
Fault report
If you decide to report a problem, you can attach your technical logs or a file. This submission is yours: nothing is sent without that action, you see what is attached, and the transfer is end-to-end encrypted. These items are used only to fix the reported fault, then deleted.
Usage statistics
Technical measures (features used, errors met, kilometres contributed) are sent to improve the app. They are tied to the device's technical identifier described in article 4, never to your name, your card number or your registration number: the app's author has no way of knowing who you are. They contain neither your driving activity nor your card files.
Address search
When you search for a destination, the text you type and your current position are sent to our servers — the very ones that serve you maps and calculate your routes — which return the matching places. No third-party service is involved in this search. This submission includes neither your device identifier nor any of your other data.
No data is resold. Your driving activity, card files and position are never passed to third parties; only advertising involves a third party, Google, under the conditions described in article 6.
4. Your device identifier
TachoPro uses the technical identifier that the Android system assigns to your device (ANDROID_ID). It contains neither your name nor your phone number, but it persists after the app is reinstalled and is only reset by a factory reset.
What it is for: finding and withdrawing your own traffic reports, keeping your contributed-kilometres counter, and linking together the positions sent while fleet tracking is active.
5. Audience measurement
While the app is open on screen, it reports that it is running to our server every ten minutes. This signal contains five things, and nothing else: the technical identifier described above, the app version, the Android version of your phone (the number alone, for example “14” — neither the model nor the manufacturer), whether a tachograph is connected at that moment, and the software version of the connected tachograph (or the last one connected), as announced by the vehicle's device — as well as your referral code and, if you entered one, that of your referrer.
What it does not contain: no position, no driving time, no card data, no screen content. Your IP address is not kept.
When it is not sent: with the app closed, or the phone locked, no signal is sent. The only exception is a navigation session in progress, where the app keeps running with the screen off. When it goes to the background, it tells the server it is stopping.
What it is for: knowing how many copies run at the same time and how many are linked to a tachograph, in order to size the service and measure the real use of features. The Android version serves a single decision: up to which system version the app must keep working.
What is kept: the detail — which device, since when — exists only for the present and erases itself as soon as the app stops reporting. The history keeps only a number per ten-minute slot, with no identifier: it is impossible to reconstruct afterwards who was using the app on a given day.
6. Advertising
The app displays ads provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited). This is what makes it possible to offer it free of charge.
What Google receives: to choose, display and measure these ads, Google's advertising module built into the app collects data on your device — notably its advertising identifier, its IP address (from which Google can infer an approximate location), the model and system version, and your interactions with ads. Google processes this data as an independent controller, under its own rules, including for retention: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What it does not receive: TachoPro passes to Google neither your driving activity, nor your card files, nor your GPS position, nor your name, card number or registration number. None of this data is used to choose ads.
Your choice: in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google form asks you, at first launch, whether you accept personalised ads. If you decline, non-personalised ads may still be shown; Google then uses only limited data, notably to fight fraud and limit repetition of the same ad. You can change your mind at any time in Profile → Privacy and data → “Ad privacy (Google AdMob)”, and reset or delete the advertising identifier in Android's settings.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have a right of access, rectification and erasure of your data from the app's “Privacy and data” screen, which lets you export all your data as well as erase it.
8. Data controller
The data controller is GLSolution, publisher of TachoPro. For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, write to tachopro@glsolution.fr.
You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country — in France, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
9. Legal basis and retention
Legal basis: your consent, collected in the app, and performance of the service you ask of it. Personalised ads rest on the consent you give in Google's form, which you can withdraw at any time (article 6).
Retention: data stays on your device until you erase it. You can delete it at any time from “Privacy and data”, or by uninstalling the app. Data sent to improve the service is anonymous and therefore tied to no person.
10. Scope of the app
TachoPro is a driver-aid tool. It replaces neither the tachograph, nor the driver card, nor the documents required at a check: those are what prevail.
The times, thresholds and amounts displayed are estimates calculated from the data read. Missing or incomplete data, a card not downloaded or a changed rule may skew them. Always check with your employer or the texts in force before making a driving or pay decision.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may change with the app. Any modification that changes the nature or scope of processing will be presented to you in the app, and your agreement will be requested again. Purely formal changes do not trigger a new request.
12. This website
The TachoPro presentation website collects no personal data: no cookies, no analytics, no forms, no external resources. Your theme and language preference, if you choose one, stays in your browser's local storage. Details are on the Cookies and storage page.
